Freedom
Dassi Berry & Nava Golburgh

For Design FAB Collection 2022, we chose the theme freedom. After much deliberation, we decided that the following words captured the essence of our project, “‏להיות עם חפשי בארצנו“. These words are found in Hatikvah, which is the national anthem of the State of Israel, the homeland for the Jewish people. Hatikvah is a moving medley that Jews throughout the world sing as they think about the place that they call their true home and where all Jewish people will one day live in freedom.  These words remind each of us that there is always hope that no matter how far we are from home, we always have place to return to, where we can celebrate our Judaism.  On the board we have displayed an open hand which is letting some butterflies fly free. Butterflies are a representation of hope and freedom. Our butterflies are a metaphor for the Jews that will free into the land of Israel, our homeland, as a united nation. Just like a butterfly starts off as a caterpillar, then a cocoon, and then into a beautiful butterfly, so to with the Jews, we will flourish into a beautiful nation all living in Israel.
