The Scale of
Honesty and Peace

Our project is a balance scale that represents having to find the perfect balance between honesty and peace, in everyday life. The coins are labeled אמת ושלום(honesty and peace) and they can be added to each cup on each side. The scale in the center is labeled “danger” and “harmony” and the goal is to put the correct number of אמת ושלוםcoins in each basket to align the scale with “harmony”. You will notice that if you put too many אמתcoins and not enough שלוםcoins, then they scale will turn to “danger”, similar to how in real life if you’re either too honest you can hurt people, or if you’re too obsessed with keeping peace, the truth can cease to exist.
We began creating our project on TinkerCad, a 3D printing software, then we printed it out. On TinkerCad, we had to calculate the correct dimensions and create the shapes to make sure everything would fit together perfectly; it took a lot of trial and error, but we did it. This process took around three class periods, so around three, forty minute periods. After our design was printed out, we had to draw the design of our scale, color it in, and label it with “danger” and “harmony”. After this, we had to add the two baskets which the coins would be placed in. After many different ideas, we settled on the cups as our material for the baskets. To make them, we first had to cut cups in half and cut a hole on each side, then with string we connected them to the beam of the scale. It took a long time, and a lot of effort, but in the end, we are very proud of our creation and feel it conveys our message perfectly.

COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN ELEMENTS
Students utilized industry standard 3D modeling software, Fusion 360, to model elements of their artwork. Fusion 360 is a cloud-based 3D modeling software platform for product design and manufacturing. Typically used to design and engineer products to ensure aesthetics, form, fit, and function.
