The golden child
Madison Meirzon, Jonah Rieber

Our motivation for this piece was to help the audience appreciate the happiness that comes with peace along with the truth needed to experience this peace. Since this was our goal, we decided to focus on three main different symbolic aspects. The first one is a Jewish star. The Jewish star represents peace for the Jewish people. The Jewish star is commonly used as a symbol of peace for the Jewish people because it was originally used by David, to win a war and bring peace for everyone. The star is a dark blue color because blue is the color of the Israeli flag and we wanted to remind the audience of how far Israel as a nation has come. We started as slaves and now we have our own independent country. We made the star simple with minimal design because it is such an important symbol that doesn't need anything additional. The second aspect we included was the pyramid outline, which represents the hardships the Jewish people had to overcome. The quote we chose “The Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, mighty, merciful and gracious, long suffering, and abundant in love and truth” -Exodus 34:6 was said during the same time as the pyramids, so when you read the quote that is engraved on the pyramids, you remember that time in history when the Jewish people had to fight for peace. We made the pyramids yellow and engraved each individual brick in fusion to make them very realistic. The pyramid is the main component of the structure so we decided it should be the color yellow to value and respect the happiness that peace and truth create. The third aspect, the baby, symbolizes the value of truth because babies can't lie and they are known for being very trusting. We made the baby gold to remind us of the lack of wealth the Jewish people had as slaves. We also cut out a slot at the bottom of the baby so it can sit on a pyramid. This was done to accentuate the value of truth because it is not as prominent in Jewish stories.

Overall, the digital art model is very similar to the physical art piece. The one main difference between the two pieces is the Jewish star. On the digital model, we were unable to fully capture how the star turns and rotates. In the physical model, it is much more detailed. You are able to fully see the star from every angle which is important to portray the message of peace and how it is an everlasting concept. Because you can see the star from every angle you can always see the idea of peace, no matter what angle you look at it from.
