Six Days of Creation, Shabbas

Our group’s board represents the Six Days of Creation and the 7th day, Shabbos. On the first day, Hashem created light and dark. For this part of our project, we used several colors to show the light, and to depict darkness, we used purples and blues. These wedges are separated by a white line to show the difference between the lightness and dark, or day and night. Day 2 was the separation of the sky and sea. Beautiful, clear blues show the sky while the ocean is filled with waves. On Day 3, HaShem gave us land. We painted the board green and added moss and 3D printed trees for special effect. This represents the dry land and living plants. Day 4 saw the creation of the sun, moon, stars, and planets. The night sky glows in the dark, a greenish-blue color, while the sun glows in dark orange. Day 5, or Yom Chamishi, was the beginning of birds and fish. As the world became more filled each day, our board had to show what had already been created. We used clay to represent land from day 3 that birds sat on. On the 6th day, Hashem created land animals, and the first people: Adam and Chava. We 3D printed land animals, and Adam and Chava. Using each piece of the board to show HaShem’s tireless work of creation leads to the final piece at the center: the Shabbos display. Here we used objects that represent the celebration of Shabbos, the day of rest. These special artifacts are all used in the observance of our weekly break from the work we’ve done all week. We 3D printed each of the items on the Shabbos plate - the table itself, the wine bottle, the Kiddush cup, and the challah. Our physical project is different from the digital one on Tinkercad mostly because we did not create the whole project in one piece. We did each piece as a separate rendering so that we could see what each one would look like individually. We knew what we wanted to create and what we wanted the final project to look like, so each one computer design was then used as a visual for our board. We are really proud of our physical manifestation and think that it represents the specialness of Shabbos while also showing how the world came to be - through HaShem’s miraculous work.

COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN ELEMENTS

Students utilized industry standard 3D modeling software, Fusion 360, to model elements of their artwork. Fusion 360 is a cloud-based 3D modeling software platform for product design and manufacturing. Typically used to design and engineer products to ensure aesthetics, form, fit, and function.
