Our piece was based off of a quote from Rabbi Shimon ben Gamliel Which says:
Rabban Shimon ben Gamaliel used to say: on three things does the world stand: On justice, on truth and on peace, as it is said: “execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates” (Zechariah 8:16).”
We wanted to represent the quote and include each aspect of it. We put the tree of life in the middle of the whole piece, representing all life, and everything in the world that it stands on. We also added fruit to hang on the tree and to represent the fruit of life. We hung three different colored fruits each with a different meaning. The red fruit symbolizes justice, the green fruit symbolizes peace, and the orange fruit symbolizes truth. In our project we had a few main parts, our first part was a laser cut tree, the tree of life which was the centerpiece, when we first cut it it was too thin so we laser cut a second tree and glued the two together. We also 3D printed the fruit and we attached wire to it to allow it to hang on the tree. The last part was the base which was a laser cut circle which then we wrote a quote in Hebrew and English on the border.
