To represent the theme of harmony between Truth and Peace we decided to make a 3D object portraying the fact that Hashem promised Avraham that his children will be like the stars in the sky and the sand on the ground. We chose to make this because even after all these years Hashem kept his promise. This shows אמת, faithfulness, or truth . Not only are we a wonderful nation, we are also a peaceful nation even throughout all of the challenges we’ve had. This shows שלום.
Our quote is from בראשית פרק כ”ב. It says
Hashem tells Avraham,” indeed, I will bless you, I will make your seed many, like the stars of the heavens and like the sand that is on the shore of the sea;
This was meaningful to us because it shows that Hashem kept his promise to Avraham and brought many Jews into this world, including us. We wouldn’t be who we are without the help of Hashem.
Our base is a circle shaped like a peace sign. Around the border we wrote our passuk. We created a peace sign out of popsicle sticks with felt on top. Our structure shows a beach where we have fake sand and clay sculptures and a beach chair made out of popsicle sticks with a felt towel under it.. The other half of the peace sign shows a night sky with many stars. The stars are 3D printed. We sculpted the ocean with clay and painted it.
The pieces of sand and stars symbolize the promise Hashem made with Avraham and how we still are one big nation. Hashem was truthful to his promise by the fact that Bnei Yisrael are still around, which are represented by the sand and stars inside the peace sign.
The hardest part of making this was the sand and the ocean. It was hard to get the sand to stick to the bottom. The ocean was very detailed and it was hard to make it look like an ocean. We are proud of what we created to show the harmony between peace and truth.
