Lend Out a Hand
Erin Falk, Maia Kret, Leora Schwartz
Our names are Leora, Erin, and Maia.
To represent the theme of Truth and Peace we decided to make 2 hands holding a peace sign with a crown on top and flowers.
We chose to make this because when mashiach comes the world will be peaceful. We made a crown over a peace sign to represent that. We added flowers because at the time of Matan Torah Har Sinai had flowers on it and everyone was at peace.
Our quote is from Birchat Kohanim, It says in במדבר ו כד כו
ישִָּׂ֨א ה' צָּניָו֙ אֵלֶ֔י ויְשֵָׂ֥ם לְ ֖ שָׁלֽבֿם׃
This translates into Hashem will lift up His face upon you, and give you peace. These pesukim are what the kohanim say when they bless Bnei Yisrael from the beit hamikdash and in shul. They are asking Hashem to bestow Bnei Yisrael with good things and peace. The hands we made represent the Kohanim’s hands blessing Bnei Yisrael with peace.
For our 3D printed item We 3D printed the crown. Because the crown represents mashiach and when moshiach comes there will be truth and peace in the world. Another thing we did to represent our peace is we made a peace sign that the crown will rest on top of. The peace sign will be made of a small wooden board and will be painted. We made hands out of a hand casting kit and they are holding the peace sign and the crown.
When we cast the hands one came out bigger than the other. We used this to represent that no matter how big you are or tall you are, you still come together and be at peace. We painted flowers on the base to represent Matan Torah, which had flowers.
The hardest part of the project was to take the hands out of the mold. We didn’t want them to break and wanted them to come out in tact and the way we designed them
