Pillars of the World
Nava Golburgh, Dassi Berry
The חז״לwe used was ״ על שלושה דברים העולם קים, על הדין ועלהאמת ועל השלום״. We depicted this with the three pillars of דין- law, שלום- peace, and אמת- truth, with a world balanced on the three pillars. Today, our society has law in our American justice system, but is there truthfulness (אמת) and peace (שלום)? No, we have a high crime rate, war, and unrest, so how can this all be true? If within ourselves, we establish laws, being our Jewish morals, , שלוםbetween people and individually, and speak the truth, then we will be able to grow. With this idea in mind, we have depicted a crown on the top of the world, which represents the idea that if even one pillar was to collapse, Hashem's rule wouldn’t be the same and the world would not be stable. Without שלוםthe world would be full of constant fighting. Without truth, society would not not be able to act civilly among each other. And without law, people would be able to get away with anything which would cause total chaos and anarchy. The kindness that Hashem shows to us by giving us these three middos, thus holding up our world is exceptional. We can only try to understand the value of the gift that we receive daily in these three pillars.
