On Three things

To represent our theme Truth and Peace, Emet V’Shalom, we chose as our quote:
“רַבָּן שִׁמְעוֹן בֶּן גַּמְלִיאֵל אוֹמֵר, עַל שְׁלשָׁה דְבָרִים הָעוֹלָם עוֹמֵד, עַל הַדִּין וְעַל הָאֱמֶת וְעַל הַשָּׁלוֹם”
Rabbi Shimon Ben Gamliel says: On three things the world stands; on Justice, on Truth, and on Peace (Pirkei Avot 1:18).
This is engraved onto our base, a wooden disk. To represent this quote, we laser cut a 3D Tree of Life, which splits into three branches. These branches hold up a globe which is a balloon that was plastered and then painted. At the base of the tree is a mound of dirt, made out of clay and painted brown and green. Around the mound are a laser cut family of deer. Across from them, on the other side of the mound are three wolves, also laser cut. The deer symbolize peace, and the wolves symbolize justice. The finishing touch is a few 3D printed clumps of grass on the base for added decoration. The three things mentioned in the quote are the three branches of the Tree of Life. Each branch doesn’t represent a specific thing, but it is up for the viewer to decide which branch represents Truth, which branch represents Justice, and which represents Peace. Our globe is then balanced between the branches, representing the world standing on three things.
COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN ELEMENTS
Students utilized industry standard 3D modeling software, Fusion 360, to model elements of their artwork. Fusion 360 is a cloud-based 3D modeling software platform for product design and manufacturing. Typically used to design and engineer products to ensure aesthetics, form, fit, and function.
