The Cage of Truth
Hannah Joffe, Yarden Wilkenfeld,
Ayelet Magder
Our artifact is a black, wooden, laser cut cage that has a white dove with 3D printed wings, and a clay body, resting inside. The cage and bird are stationed on a round wooden base, which was laser cut with a quote saying, “Truth springs up from the earth; justice looks down from heaven. אֱ֭מֶת מֵאֶ֣רֶץ תִּצְמָ֑ח וְ֝צֶ֗דֶק מִשָּׁמַ֥יִם נִשְׁקָֽף׃” (Psalms 85:12). To us this quote shows how although Truth and Peace are in some ways opposites, as truth comes from the Earth, while Justice comes from the heaven, they can meet in the middle. This is why we painted the cage, resembling truth, black. And we painted the dove, resembling peace, white. White and black are opposites as are the earth and heaven. However, earth and heaven meet. Perhaps God created the earth. People go from the earth to heaven. There is a gray area between opposites, it’s not always white or black. This is why we made our base gray. It is where the two opposites, truth, and peace, meet. Our gray base represents the the area in which we live. We don’t live with just truth, or just peace, we have to find a way to live in both world. Sometimes, the gray is a little darker, and sometimes it is a little lighter, but the world will never be just black and white.
COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN ELEMENTS
Students utilized industry standard 3D modeling software, Fusion 360, to model elements of their artwork. Fusion 360 is a cloud-based 3D modeling software platform for product design and manufacturing. Typically used to design and engineer products to ensure aesthetics, form, fit, and function.
