The Golem and the Dove
Isaiah Segal-Geetter, Michael Rubinstein

In our statue we have attempted to symbolize the relationship between truth and peace by creating a golem with a dove on its shoulder. We thought that a Golem and a dove was a terrific idea since over the course of history the Golem has represented truth as the hebrew word for truth  אמתis written on the Golem’s chest. The dove represents peace from the Tanakh when Noah sends out a dove to see if there is dry land out of the ark and the dove returns with an olive branch in its beak. We believe that when the dove returns with the olive branch, it was a sign of peace with God. The dove is also notoriously known as a naturally peaceful bird due to its natural behavior. The olive branch is also on the seal of the Israeli Defense Forces and the olive branch was in the dove’s beak which we believe is the IDF attempting to make their symbol peaceful because that is their end mission. Our quote is from the book of Isaiah ``Good is the word of the Lord which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, for there shall be peace and truth in my days.”

Our quote represents God telling us that both truth and peace can be in the world and they are intertwined with each other. We believe that in Judaism the relationship between these two aspects of life is one of the main pillars of our religion.
